Temple Trip With Pinky

We went to the Medford temple today, it was Ward temple day and our youth were doing baptism also. We left the house around 830, Pinky and G Ida came with Steven and I. We had heard that there was snow forcast for the valley floors on Sat. and true to its word, snow we got. But it was on Gardner hill!, big flakes and flurries...it was so cool. We hit blue skys and billowing white clouds further down the road, and then more snow and more sleet and then more sunshine, all the way to the temple the weather was changing. It was an amazing day weather wise, but more amazing was the work we did at the temple. We got G Ida sealed to her parents, Alphonso and Melvina ( yep, thats my name sake) Alphonso to his parents, Emeline Melissa and Henry Thomas White, and G Ida's grandparents Edith Charlotte and Edward Henry Stumpf sealed to each other. What a wonderful experience that was. . Pinky did her Steve's grandmothers work and dad did Pinky's dad's work!! We were all one big family doing family work for our loved ones. The Suckows and the Scotts and Heidi Clark were there too.
Who knew that geneology could be so stinkin' much fun!! Pinky and I outside after our sessions.
Me and G Ida and Pinky. . dad's taking the pic. Check out G Ida's new do!!
Lunch in Grants Pass. . .what a fun day we had..wish you all could have been there too!

Proctoring In Salem! And Partying After

This was how beautiful it was on Sat! And we were in the building from 630am to 600pm! NO lie, we even had to eat lunch inside! AHHHH But it was still a grand time. We are proctoring for ELSES again, FE and FS. . fundamentals in engineering and surveying. . we are test givers!!
This is Columbia Hall at the Fairgrounds in Salem. . it is huge! My tables were clear in the back of the hall, so I had to walk really fast and often to the other end of the place! We normally proctor in Eugene, but that building was busy this weekend, so it was off to Salem. We left the house with Sister Coombs at 400am and we finished our day getting home at 1030pm. 17 hours, and its all paid! Yippee. . ( not the dinner fun tho!)
This is my view of the hall and that other end is the frint of the hall! HA
So this is what we see when we pull up at Red Robin ( Steven has been craving a BIG burger for awhile)
And this. . .
Wow, who knew, its Tip A Cop Day in Oregon, Washington and California at all the Red Robins to raise money for Special Olympics. I have NEVER to date, heard the noise level that we had tonight. . .it was insane!! And the most fun ever!!! Which is why I never even thought to get a pic of dad and I!! duh!
I had Bonnie and this nice officer smile for me tho! Seems fitting for her, seeing where she works! ha
They were all over the restraunt, seving water and helping in the singing of birthday songs, and asking for donations! We had a ball!!!

Dad's Day

Dad stopped by the house on his way to the shop with his load this morning. . the carriage! Nice huh? And this truck even has breaks!

Some Things Don't Change. . .24 Years Later

Elders Johnston and Fowler. . April of 1984

Elders Draper and Tanner ...April 2008
I guess its a sweater thing. . notice that the Savior has replaced a lion and grandchildren are added to a mantel.
We feed the missionaries tonight, I cooked with help from Taco Bell, ha, and then they gave us a spiritual minute, and I all of a sudden realized that it was almost our 24th anniversity in the church and that these Elders were looking a lot like ours from all those years ago. . the sweater vests i guess. . . how funny is that!
One other thing that hasn't changed is that the Gospel is still true! Our lives are so blessed from having been given that gift all those years ago. . .thank you Rich and Scott.

Take The Long Way Home

I deceided that it would be fun to take the downtown route home instead of the 205. Its just Portland. . so Sue and I headed off on 84 West and hit rush hour traffic in a section of Portland we'd never been to before. She was a little freaked out to say the least, but it was really quite simple, we followed the freeway till we came to the I 5 exit and took it and went over the river and thru the overpasses and made an adventure. It would be faster i think at a normal time, but the rush made it crazy. . .but I still loved it! As a bonus, we got to go Deseret Book and made a pass by driving of the temple for some pics.

The end of a great day...

Leavin' On A Jet Plane

Portland Airport has the coolest walkway over the road. . two of them actually..

so you never get wet! This is the parking garage

And this is the terminal

Waiting for her plane

If you look real close you can see Madi in the way back there with her My Little Pony backpack that she borrowed from taylor for the trip...she was loving all the looks and comments from fellow passengers!
